Overview

Fires caused by cooking oils and fats can spread rapidly and are extremely difficult to control using traditional fire extinguishers. Water or foam extinguishers may worsen the situation by causing burning oil to splash and spread the fire. The K Class Type Fire Extinguisher is specifically developed to safely suppress these high-temperature kitchen fires.

This extinguisher contains a wet chemical extinguishing agent, typically composed of potassium-based compounds. When discharged onto a burning oil surface, the chemical reacts with the hot oil in a process called saponification, forming a thick soapy foam layer.
